Game Six

On our cab ride through downtown Vancouver, the taxi driver told us all the things tourists like to do... sort of intensely freaking me out a bit. He, and also most other people we spoke to, mentioned the ice hockey game on Monday. Game Six in a best-out-of-seven competition for the Stanley cup.

Straight up the cab driver said if they lose, there would be a riot. In most casual conversations, this possibility was discussed, mostly in disbelief. In 1994 there was a riot, but since the Olympics bought the city together it wouldn't likely happen now.

There was a mascot standing up through the sunroof in this car, he sat down before I took the photo. Serendipitously it was in front of a chemist/superstore named London Drugs. This was one of the worst looted in the riots.

From our hotel room, I could use my big camera to take photos of the crowd of people gathered in the city to watch the game - being played in Boston - on big screens.

Outside the post office.
