GPS iPhone App Tracks Black Tshirt Search

I started to play with this app. I think it's for people who want to know how far they have exercised.

I needed a plain black t-shirt to make a new skeleton shirt. This is never easy. I turned on the tracking app before I left to find one and turned it off when I got home.

One day I would like to walk a word with this. Proposal:

But I found some anomalies. I sincerely have no recollection of performing these manoeuvers:

Maybe parts of that black t-shirt search diagram are also extra anomalous?

Art Around the House: Anonymous

I found this in the first year studio space at art school on clean-up day before the degree show one year. I cant remember which year. It was unnamed and unclaimed.

When I saw it I wanted it: partly for the carefully hollowed and halved cigarette at the centre and partly that it reminded me of a story about cigarettes that someone told me at a party years ago.

The story at the party was about a man who explained that during times of intoxication when he recognised his grasp on reality - particularly the passage of time - was waning to an unacceptable level, would smoke a cigarette. The cigarette would become a marker for how much time had passed. The cigarette was like a firey little anchor which would hold the whole situation together.

This anonymous cigarette-graph piece is now stuck by blu-tac in the kitchen, installed in the same manner as it was when I removed it from art school. It prompts various parents to question if I started smoking again. It is all humble and frail and might easily have been damaged beyond repair or thrown out a long time ago. Instead it sits seething on the kitchen wall in defiance of it's maker who abandoned it and all those who so assured of reality that they are not in need of any marker.

Art Around the House: Steven Morgana

Aporia is an unsigned Steven Morgana I bought in a 30 x 30 exhibition at art school that now hangs in the hall. The exhibition was a fundraising exercise for the graduation show. The students get a piece of wood and have to make something in a week then flog it off for as much as possible.

The fixing was part of the purchase and holds the 30x30 panel well away from the wall. Sometimes people walk past and try to 'correct' this by pushing the panel up the hook, only to have it slide down to it's real resting place.

I like this about it. I also like the blackish thumb mark half way up the right side of the panel. I have no idea if this is the mark of the hand of the maker or some art-school-exhibition man-handling. It doesn't matter. The whole thing is an oddly perfect embodiment of a "30 x 30" piece.
